Yuli Tamir is one of the most popular and richest Politician who was born on February 26, 1954 in Tel Aviv, Tel Aviv District, Israel. Yael “Yuli” Tamir (Hebrew yvly tmyr – born 26 February 1954 in Israel) is an Israeli academic and politician. She was a Knesset member for the Labor Party from 2003 to 2010, and served as Minister of Immigrant Abssorption and Education. Shenkar College of Engineering and Design has been her president since 2010. She is an adjunct professor at the Blavatnik School of Government in Oxford since 2015.

Tamir is a controversial figure within Israel. She was the Minister of Education and approved a history book for Arab children. It included a section on the War of Independence in which Israel is called the “nakba” – the catastrophe. Opposition leaders demanded her dismissal. Member of Knesset Ronit (Kadima), an ex-director general of the Education Ministry, stated that the “wretched decision” was not justified from a “pedagogic standpoint” and should not be used as a political matter. Tamir said that her actions were a way to “express [the Arab’s] emotions as well.” Reports that Tamir planned to remove Ze’ev jabotinsky’s work form the national education curriculum caused a stir among rightists. Tamir denied the report.

In 2006, she was reelected to the Knesset and was Education Minister in Ehud Olmert’s Kadima coalition government. She served from 2006 to 2009. Tamir was also the acting Science, Culture, and Sport minister after Ophir Pines Paz’s resignation in Nov 2006, until March 2007, when Raleb Majadele took over. She was ninth on the party’s 2009 list. However, she retained her seat. Majadele replaced her in 2010 after she resigned from her seat to become the President of Shenkar College of Engineering and Design.

Tamir was one the founders and president of Peace Now in 1978. During the Yom Kippur War she served as an officer at an outpost on Sinai. She graduated from Hebrew University of Jerusalem with a BA and MA in Political Science. Oxford awarded her a PhD in Political Philosophy. She was a professor of philosophy at Tel Aviv University, and a researcher fellow at Shalom Hartman Institute in Jerusalem, Princeton, and Harvard.
