Ehara was discovered in Harajuku by a model agency. Ehara, who was born as Ehara, began singing under her name and released her first single “Chotto Dake”, in 1985. She was invited to Fairchild by Seiji Toda, Shi-Shonen’s bassist. She took on the stage name You and was a singer and songwriter. You was offered a spot on Downtown’s Thursday night radio program MBS Youngtown in 1990. Next, she accepted a regular spot on Downtown’s television program Downtown no Gottsu Ee Kanji.
