Dembo’s mother Nadezhda Fokkina, a USSR Master of Sports Chess in Chess, is a linguist and a chess journalist. She was the Russian Champion at the ‘Under 20’ level in 1967 and won silver and gold medals in the USSR Chess Championships. She represented Israel at the 1992 Chess Olympiad, Manila, Philippines. Dembo’s father, a professional pianist who graduated from Leningrad Academy of Music but is also a journalist, psychologist, and chess coach. Since Dembo was three years old, he has been her trainer.

Eight medals have been awarded to her from European and World championships. She holds the 2002 European Rapid Championship gold for girls ‘Under 20’ and the bronze medal from Women’s European Individual Chess Championship, held in Moldova, 2005. She shared the award for ‘highest place woman’ at the 2008 EU Individual Open Chess Championship in Liverpool with Jovanka Houska and Ketevan Arakamia-Grant.

She won the Hungarian Women’s Championship while living in Hungary from 2001 to 2003. She moved to Athens in Greece at the end of 2003, and married Sotiris Logothetis there in 2004.
