Yassine Brahim is one of the most popular and richest Politician who was born on February 20, 1966 in Mahdia, Mahdia Governorate, Tunisia. Born 1966 in Mahdia. Brahim was raised by Mahfoudh Brahim, a Tunisian Air Force officer, and his mother, Abdelaziz Mastouri, a teacher. Brahim was ten when his parents moved to Carthage, where he attended secondary school. He left Tunisia with a stipend from the Tunisian government in 1983 to study in Toulouse, France. He received his engineering diploma from Ecole Centrale Paris in 1989.

AfekTounes won 8 legislative seats in the 2014 election. Brahim was elected to represent the Mahdia constituent at the Assembly of the Representatives of the People. Afek Tounes formed a unity government in February 2015 with rival UPL and Nidaa Tounes. Habib Essid, the prime minister, appointed him Minister of Development, Investment, and International Cooperation.

He returned to Tunisia in 2010, just before the Tunisian Revolution, which would see him become Minister of Transport and Equipment under the second Ghannouchi cabinet and then the Essebsi government. On 17 June 2011, he resigned to become the general secretary of Afek Tounes, which he helped merge with Ahmed Najib Chebbi’s Progressive Democratic Party, The Republican Party Al Joumhouri. Brahim announced however, on 28 August 2013, the cession of the Republican Party and the restoration of Afek Tounes to its independent status as a liberal party.

Brahim worked later for Cap Gemini. He was employed by the French bank Societe Generale. In 2000, he established his own information services firm 2ic. This company was then sold to Teamlog in France in 2004. After his financial software company Ubitrade was sold in 2006 to GL Trade, he returned to Tunisia and became the general director of that company. He then moved to London to lead the acquisition by SunGard, an American company.
