Yacob Jarso Kintra (born 5 February 1988) is an Ethiopian long-distance athlete and former steeplechaser. He was a representative of Ethiopia in the 2009 Summer Olympics and also at the 2009 World Championships in Athletics.
Yacob made his debut in the marathon at the 2012 Beppu-Oita marathon in Japan and led the race after just 27 kilometers before he fell to finish in third position in a time of 2:11:13 hours. He took the Stramilano half-marathon with the time of 1:01:07 which was just a fraction faster than his Italian rival Andrea Lalli. He took part in the Florence Marathon, but was slower than when he ran his first race, coming in in fifth place. He did not finish the Seoul International Marathon in March 2013, but he bounced back the following month to take home the Yangzhou Jianzhen International Half Marathon. He ran in for the Delhi Half Marathon in December however, he was not able to complete.
He decided to leave the steeplechase in 2010 , and took part in a 15K road race in Le-Puy-en-Velay. He was chosen to run the 10,000 meters in the 2010 African Championships in Athletics and the race was won by him in fifth place as the sole Ethiopian to complete the race. In the Delhi Half Marathon in November the race was his first at the distance, and came away with an impressive podium finish, coming third place in 1:07:07 ahead of his compatriot Lelisa Desisa. He was runner-up in the 2010 Ethiopian 15K Championships in February which he finished just third behind Deriba Merga. He moved into the 20K race to compete in the Marseille-Cassis Classic in October, and finished fourth overall.

Jarso relocated to Japan in the early part of 2008 and started running on the circuit of the supervision of the Honda company athletics stable. He scored victory during the Hyogo Relays in April of that year. Jarso was awarded the third steeplechase spot in the Ethiopian team for the 2008 Summer Olympics together with more established Nahom Mesfin Tariku and Roba Gari. As his fellow Ethiopians were eliminated during the finals of heats Jarso took the lead in his qualification race with a personal best of 8:16.88 to make it to the final. Jarso became the very first Ethiopian to be in the Olympic steeplechase final since Eshetu Tura won the bronze medal at in the 1988 Moscow Olympics. Jarso was among the top runners throughout the race but was unable to keep pace at the final obstacle and ended up in fourth. He initially was disappointed by his performance however he was pleased after learning that his time of 8:13.47 broke the Ethiopian records for this race that stood from when he competed in the Olympic finals in Moscow 28 years ago. He was awarded the title as “Warden” from the Police Prisons club for his accomplishments.
After returning to Japan and began to focus long distances. He recorded the third-fastest time in his run in the New Year Ekiden and beat Josephat Ndambiri in the 10,000 meters during the Hyogo Relays. A steeplechase victory in 8:17.12 at the Abashiri Relays in Abashiri was enough give him the opportunity to represent the country in the 2009 World Championships in Athletics. Roba Gary had already beaten his national record earlier in the month prior to the event , but Jarso was ahead in the world stage and pushed him up to fifth place by running the new personal record in 8:12.13 minutes. After returning to the training camp he was in Japan He completed a 10,000-meter best of 27:30.08 which put him in the top 20 runners over the course that season.
Yacob made a breakthrough at the Seoul International Marathon at the start of 2014: he became the first Ethiopian winner of the long-running event and greatly improved his best to 2:06:17 hours.
