He was an official part of the Knesset for Likud and Kadima between 2003 between 2003 and 2013 as well as holding the post that included Minister of Immigrant Absorption as well as Minister for Negev and Galilee Development, Minister of Health, and a Minister with no Portfolio.
Edri was elected to his seat at the 2006 elections and was appointed Minister with no Portfolio in charge of Jerusalem Affairs. In an overhaul of the cabinet in July 2007, he was appointed the minister of Immigrant Absorption as well as the Minister for Negev and Galilee Development. The former portfolio was taken away on July 14, 2008, after Eli Aflalo was appointed to the position.
On February 25, 2007 He was appointed responsible for Israel’s sixty-year anniversary celebrations. The same day, his arrest was made under caution under suspicion of trying to get personal benefits for the promotion of a police chief Ya’akov ZIGDO, while the position was as the Deputy Minister of Internal Security. He denied the allegations.

The family was born in Morocco, Edri emigrated to Israel in the year 1959. He went to Haifa University, University of Haifa, where earned a bachelor’s degree in political science as well as an MBA in administration for public service.
