Austin and played 328 games in four seasons in the American Basketball Association (ABA), where he averaged 18.2 points, 4.3 assists and 4.0 rebounds per game. He also played six seasons in the NBA for the San Antonio Spurs after the ABA–NBA merger and one for the Cleveland Cavaliers, averaging 14.2 points per game.
