Wong was an elementary school classmate of the singer Joey Yung, and in 2012, Wong discovered he is a distant cousin of Eason Chan during a visit the ancestral house of his located in Dongguan, China. On the 19th of November, 2014, Cho-lam made a public proposal to Leanne Li in the live TVB Anniversary program, and was accompanied by TVB employees and officials. The couple got married at Valentine’s Day in 2015. They are both committed Protestants who have both publicly stated their that they have never had a sexual relationship prior to their wedding. They also had a daughter named Gabrielle Wong, who was born on December 17, 2018.
He was co-hosting the 2010 and 2008 Miss Hong Kong Pageant with Eric Tsang. He won Most Improved Actor at the 2008 TVB Awards.
