Kubicki was a member of his German Bundestag from the 20th of December 1990 until 2 August 1992, at which point Kubicki was removed from his mandate, and then again from 17 October until 9 Dec 2002. On 5 May 1992, Kubicki was elected as a member of the Schleswig-Holstein Landtag and was immediately elected as the leader of the FDP the parliamentary group. In that capacity as a member, he was on the parliament’s Council of Elders. He also was a member of the Finance Committee (1992-2009); the Committee on the Election of Judges (2005-2012) and the Committee on Internal and Legal Affairs (2012-2017).

After completing high school in the year 1970, Braunschweig Kubicki took economics classes in the University of Kiel, where Peer Steinbruck was one of his classmates. He was graduated in 1975. Following graduation, he was employed by an advisory firm and , from 1978, working in an Steuerberater (“tax consultant”) workplace. From 1981 until 1983, he was a researcher for The FDP within the Schleswig-Holstein Landtag. He completed the second year of law that he earned while working in Kiel’s University of Kiel in 1982 and passed the first state exam. In 1985, he passed the second state exam and has been working as an attorney since.
