Winston Lackin is one of the most popular and richest Politician who was born on December 23, 1954 in Nickerie District, Suriname. Lackin was born on the 23rd of December 1954 in the Nickerie District. He attended high school in Paramaribo, the capital city , Paramaribo. Lackin then went on to study legal studies at Anton de Kom University of Suriname. Then he attended the Rio Branco Institute in Brazil between 1984 and 1986 in order to make himself ready for a career in diplomatic service.

In the first quarter of 2012, Suriname was chairman of the Caribbean Community, and Lackin attempted to create Suriname an intermediary that would connect and the Caribbean Community and the Union of South American Nations.

From 1985 to 1987, he was the drummer of the Brazilian music group Obina Shok. Lackin died on 11 November 2019 at his home in Suriname at the age of 64.

In 1997, he travelled out again, this time as a advisor at the Surinamese Embassy located in Brussels, Belgium. In 2000, he returned to Suriname and was employed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs until the appointment of the Minister for Foreign Affairs in the cabinet of the President Desi Bouterse on August 13th, 2010. On August 13, 2015, Lackin transferred the position that of the Minister of Foreign Affairs over to Niermala Badrising.

Winston Guno Lackin (23 December 1954 11 Nov. 2019) was a Surinamese politician. He was the Minister of Foreign Affairs for Suriname as part of the Cabinet under the president Desi Bouterse from 13 August 2010 until 13 August 2015.

Between 1983 to 1984, Lackin was the head in the Europe department within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. From 1986 to 1991 , he was hired by the Ministry. In 1991, he was appointed the Secretary-in-Chief at the Surinamese Embassy in Brasilia, Brazil. The embassy remained open until 1994, when he was re- admitted to work at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

In January 2013 Lackin spoke with his Dutch colleague Frans Timmermans, establishing the first ministerial contact with the Netherlands since 2010. Under Lackin relations between Suriname and the Netherlands improved in late 2014 and early 2015, with the countries exchanging ambassadors once more. Lackin said relations were completely restored.
