Eliot is born the 19th of August 1956 within New York City. When she was just two years old her father, the editor of art for Time magazine, received a Guggenheim Fellowship and the family relocated to Spain. Her parents decided to quit Time Inc., and continue to live in the United States. They lived for a few years in Greece and then took an excursion on a freighter to Yugoslavia through Japan. They resided within Rome, Italy for three years, during which time Eliot went to in the Overseas School of Rome. The family relocated in 1967 into Sussex, England, where she attended Michael Hall School, a school that was founded on the Waldorf methodology of learning. After receiving her diploma from high school on the 14th of April 1974, she relocating into Claremont, California, where she was a student at Scripps College. In 1977, after graduating with an undergraduate certificate of Modern European Studies, she went on to attend an Publishing Procedures Course at Radcliffe College. Following that, Eliot moved to New York City in the city, where she was employed by a variety of magazines and publishing houses such as Simon & Schuster, Doubleday, Time, and Fortune magazine. Between 1983 and 1986 the romance novel she wrote was published five times by Rapture Romance, a publishing series produced through New American Library.

Eliot also creates poetry. In 1995, she co-founded The Saturn Series Weekly Poetry Readings in New York City, which is still a very well-loved weekly event for both new and established poets as well as performers.

Eliot received her Waldorf High School Teaching diploma from the Center for Anthroposophy in Keene, NH in 2005. Herself a Waldorf graduate, she is an advocate for Waldorf education. From 2005 to 2007, she taught English and worked as the Community Relations Director at the Honolulu Waldorf School in Hawai’i. When she returned to Massachusetts, she published two more novels: Heaven Falls, A Perfect Gem., and The Happiness Cure.

Heaven Falls was published by Telemachus Press in March 2010 and won 1st place in the 2011 Reader Views Award – Romance Category. The Happiness Cure was published in 2013 and A Perfect Gem and Pursued were published in 2011. The Wine-Dark Sea, Painted Secrets, Red Sky At Night, A Distant Light, and Roman Candles were published under the pseudonym Ellie Winslow by Signet/NAL. The Wine-Dark Sea was bought by ITC in Hollywood (now defunct), and made into a screenplay.

In 1994, ITV Productions (now defunct) in Hollywood purchased the rights to Signet’s entire Rapture Romance line. The Wine-Dark Sea was made into a screenplay to be used as the pilot for a romantic series on cable television.
