Winfried Debertin is one of the most popular and richest Film Director who was born on January 24, 1953 in Osnabrück, Lower Saxony, Germany. Winfried Debertin (born 24 January 1953 in Glandorf, Osnabruck, West Germany) is a producer and freelance director, who is well-known for his work with Norddeutscher Rundfunk (NDR), and also for founding of a production company known as Penta TV. Debertin has been in the role of Director and Producer since. He received in 2006 the ECHO Klassik award within the Classical Music for Children category.

In the latter part of 1990, Hallo Spencer lost its regular NDR broadcast time (Friday at 6pm) and was removed from on the KiKA program. In addition, the latest revival of the show has not been well received. The most recent episodes, which aired in the year 1998, were created in the period 1995-2001 in the period 1995-2001 by PentaTV productions. The episodes featured a small number of the show’s most famous characters, and consequently they’re among the most unpopular episodes by the fan base. However, the episodes were released on DVD.

In 2010, it was revealed that PentaTV was insolvent. The firm held the first insolvency proceedings over its branch companies in 2009. Debertin was listed as the sole debtor and representative of PentaTV. In December 2015, Debertin announced in a public letter that he had “become insolvent due to third-party manipulation” and regretted that nothing had changed “despite phoning German courts”.

In April 2011, NDR employees reported that Debertin had sold materials that he had previously sold, and no longer held the rights to. The material consisted of cut-outs from old Hallo Spencer sequences to which NDR held the rights.

From the late 1980s onwards, Debertin and partner Angelika Paetow were the co- leaders of the production team. Debertin was named the managing director of the television and film company PentaTV and was the creator of numerous other productions that included Leonie Lionheart Tricky Toons, The Adventures of Max and Molly, The Supercool Sudpoolgang and The most recent one, Little Amadeus. A lot of the Penta shows were created for the benefit of NDR, SWR, HR, ARD / Ki.Ka and ORF.

Debertin came up with the idea to create his TV program Hallo Spencer back in latter part of the 1970s. He was motivated to create the show following his discovery of the increasing need for an German similar to the American children’s show Sesame Street. The broadcasters of 1977 were skeptical of the prevailing American influences on German media for children and decided that NDR could develop a series similar to Sesame Street to be broadcast on German kids’ television. The show was heavily populated by puppets as well as educational content that was intended to help the development of young children. The production began with Studio Hamburg in 1978. The later seasons, the puppet makers sought out guidance by American artists. In the following time, Hallo Spencer debuted in Sesame Street’ s former time slot.
