In May of 2016 the media revealed that Wragg was among several Conservative MPs under investigation by the police in the United Kingdom general election, the investigation into party spending in 2015 and for spending more than the legally-required limit for the expenses associated with a constituency election He was questioned under caution in the year 2017 and police then handed over his case on to Crown Prosecution Service (CPS). In May 2017 the CPS determined that there would be there would be no criminal charges made.

He campaigned for Brexit in the 2016 EU membership referendum and, following the resignation of Prime Minister David Cameron, campaigned for Andrea Leadsom in the 2016 Conservative leadership election.

Wragg held his seat at the 2017 General Election with a slightly reduced majority. He had been targeted by the successor to the remain campaign, Open Britain, for his support of a hard Brexit.

Wragg was elected first as his MP in Hazel Grove at the 2015 general election, securing Hazel Grove from Liberal Democrats on a swing of 15.2 percent and becoming the first Conservative member of the Hazel Grove ward since 1997. He resigned as a councillor. Later, in 2016 it was the Liberal Democrats won the Hazel Grove Ward seat back.

William Peter Wragg (born 11 December 1987) is a British Conservative Party politician. He has served as a Member of the Parliament (MP) in the constituency of Hazel Grove since May 2015.

Wragg was elected a School governor back in the year 2008, and then continued to volunteer as a mentor for students. He did not win the Conservative candidate for the Hazel Grove ward of Stockport Metropolitan Borough Council in 2010. However, he was elected to the same ward one year later in the year 2011. He was a part of his Teach First programme, a scheme that aims to draw top graduates into teaching in 2014. He then began his career as a teacher in the primary schools. He resigned from his job after just an year to be an advocate for the Conservative MP as well as to campaign for the election in

2015. General Election.

In 2016 it was reported that Wragg had moved back to his parents’ house in order to save money for a deposit on buying a house. This was despite earning a salary of £74,000, with his London accommodation costs covered separately by expenses.
