Charles William “Bill” Frick (born December 30 1974) is an American politician from Maryland and is a part of the Democratic Party. From 2007 until the year 2018, he was an elected participant in the Maryland House of Delegates from District 16, which encompasses areas from Bethesda, Friendship Heights, and Somerset.

After the end of Del. Goldwater’s presidency, Frick ran for election for the first time in the year 2010. In a raucous 13-way primary with three nominations, Frick was the winner with the second highest number of votes, and was part of an Democratic slate alongside Susan Lee and Ariana Kelly. The Democrats took all three seats without difficulty during the general elections that November.

Frick explored a Congressional campaign for 2018 but later announced that he would run for County Executive in Montgomery County. He finished sixth in a crowded Democratic primary in June 2018.

In the House of Delegates, Frick was a subcommittee chairman on the Ways and Means Committee and served as the chamber’s parliamentarian. In January 2017, he was appointed majority leader.

In 2007 Frick got appointed in 2007 to his position in the Maryland House of Delegates representing District 16 following the resignation of the former District 16 Delegate Marilyn R. Goldwater. Frick was considered a dark horse candidate during the selection process, and was contesting against Don Mooers, a party activist and the former candidate for congress and Reggie Oldak, who had previously run for the district in the year 2006. Despite his relatively unpopularity, Frick was chosen by the central committee on the initial ballot. A local blog on politics that wrote about the appointment in the following days wrote, “Who the Frick is Bill?”

Frick was born in Silver Spring, Maryland and attended Bethesda Chevy Chase High School. He then went to Northwestern University in Evanston, IL where he earned an B.A. in history and political science and then in 2000 completed his studies at Harvard Law School with his Juris Doctor degree. Before his election as a member of the House of Delegates, Frick was a volunteer in the county Democratic Party, including as Vice President of the District 16 Democratic Club and a member of the Montgomery County Young Democrats, and was chairman for Montgomery County’s Pedestrian Advisory Committee. Frick is married with two kids.

Bill Frick joined the Maryland Bar and the District of Columbia Bar in 2001. He was counsel in the Law Firm of Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP which specialized in civil, criminal as well as administrative cases. In January of 2019 he was hired by the firm Cuneo Gilbert & LaDuca LLP.

In 2014, Frick began a campaign for Attorney General of Maryland, but withdrew from the race and sought re-election as a Delegate. He was elected in November by a comfortable margin.
