Farina is a native of Indiana, raised as well as educated, within LaPorte, Indiana. He was a student at Valparaiso University on a baseball athletic scholarship. He graduated with a bachelor’s degree, which included the double major of English as well as Philosophy in 1978. Motivated by the outcome of the 2004 election, Farina resolved to devote some of her time to activities that promote education. One of the most prominent among them is an assortment of books covering diverse topics in the field of scholarly research that are written in a non-expert’s viewpoint. The first collection of Farina’s, “De Vere as Shakespeare: An Oxfordian Reading of the Canon” (McFarland and Company 2006) is a response to the Shakespeare authorship debate. It was awarded the 2007 Award for Scholarly Excellence presented by the Shakespeare Authorship Studies Conference of Concordia University-Portland. It also received the acclaim of the Washington State University’s Rocky Mountain Review of Language and Literature. Since since then, McFarland has published eight additional books by Farina and the most recent one is “Saint James the Greater in History, Art and Culture” (2018).
