William Curley (born 29 October 1971) is a Scottish chocolatier and patissier. Curley is the founder of the London chocolate company William Curley Ltd., and has been awarded the Academy of Chocolatier’s “Britain’s Most Outstanding Chocolatier Four times. In 2012, William Curley and Suzue Curley joined the prestigious pastry group Relais Desserts.

In March 2012, William was asked to take part the Faberge charity’s fundraiser The Big Egg Hunt to raise funds to support Action for Children and Elephant Family. William together with his fellow team members came up with an enormous chocolate egg that measured 1.5 meters. The egg was featured on the front in Fortnum & Mason during the hunt, and on the 20th of March 2012 it sold for PS7,000 in an auction benefiting charity. This made it the biggest edible Easter Egg ever sold at auction.

William and his chefs provide chocolate masterclasses and workshops, where participants learn the basics of chocolate making. William also holds demonstrations and classes at Divertimenti Cookery School. The William Curley team was also the first ever to hold chocolate making classes at Harrods in May 2012, encouraging participants to get hands-on working with chocolate, in the Harrods Gourmet Cook Shop.

William has won a variety of awards including the ‘William Heptinstall Award’, ‘The Craft Guild Pastry Chef of the Year’ award, ‘Caterer and Hotelkeeper’s Acorn Award,’ and ‘British Dessert of the Year.’ William won Gold at numerous international culinary competitions and events in Chicago, Luxembourg and Basle, and at the Culinary Olympics in Germany in 2004. William Curley opened his first shop in Richmond Upon Thames just off the green in 2004 offering a selection of patisseries and chocolates. In the wake of the great success of Richmond and the subsequent opening of a second shop, another was launched in November 2009 at Orange Square, Belgravia, London. It offers the same high-end assortment of chocolates and patisseries and also homemade ice cream as well as brunch menu, the Belgravia boutique launched the city’s premier “dessert bars” where customers can relax at the bar and enjoy the dessert menu made in front of them by one of the chefs at William’s. The Curley’s Belgravia dessert bar offered dishes like Mille-feuille au chocolate – layers of hazelnut daquoise and chocolate cream along with an orange-based sauce and muscavado ice cream, and Rhubarbe Sable – layers of shortbread, sandwiched between the rhubarb-based dessert and finished with rhubarb sorbet and berries cooked in ginger syrup. Both of the shops shut down in early 2016, following a split among directors who were co-directors.

To commemorate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee in May/June 2012, William and his team created a chocolate crown displayed in the window of the luxury department store, Harrods.
