Hill began his career in the field of songwriting and production in collaboration with Wyclef Jean, and Jerry Wonda after moving to New York City in 2008. He lives with his family in Los Angeles and works on music and film compositions.
While at college, Hill began performing as a vocalist , and earned his name on campus. Hill made the decision to move out of Washington, D.C. in 2004 to go back to work and go to Loyola University New Orleans to learn about Music Business. Then Hurricane Katrina as well as the hurricane Rita made him relocate and relocate to Cleveland, OH. In Cleveland he was on the front cover of John Carroll University magazine playing the piano for the school’s newly appointed president. He played for the dinner of the president’s inauguration and other school events.
After leaving New Orleans to return to Cleveland, OH he decided to finish his Audio Production degree at Howard University. While in Washington, D.C. he met Wyclef Jean and Jerry Wonda at a panel discussion on Haiti and got into an impromptu freestyle session with other students and Jean. Later he told them of his music and plans to move to New York City and they each gave him their phone numbers. After moving to New York, in 2008, he briefly interned at Quad Recording Studios before being hired at Wyclef and Jerry Wonda’s “Platinum Sound Studios”.
In 2010, he quit his job and decided to focus solely on music. He built a home studio and began working on his concept album Gemini Mood Swings. He also decided to get back to his singing roots by taking vocal lessons with vocal coach Ankh Ra Amenhetep, who was featured on Making The Band 4. After commercially releasing his first single Future Fresh, he began performing around NYC and garnered the attention of several U.S. record labels as well as one European label, but chose to keep sole ownership of his music instead of signing a contract.
Hill began exploring more music in 1997, after a series of tragic events in his family caused Hill to concentrate more on his emotional demands. In December 1997, his grandfather died in his home as Hill stood by as his father attempted to revive him. One week later his father was diagnosed with kidney malfunction and was required to undergo emergency dialysis. her mother was diagnosed Early Onset Alzheimer’s Disease and required continuous treatment. Hill’s mother died in 2013. Hill is the only sibling of his and an older sister.

The Hill family was born in Atlanta, Ga., to parents Manuella Francois Hill and Willard Hill, Jr., Hill’s family relocated to their home town in New Orleans in 1985 where Hill later grew to be. While no one in his immediate family made it into the recording industry but they all had a musical bent in their own ways. His mother was a singer along with Moses Hogan and traveled with his choir. His grandmother was a singer and director of in the Wings Over Jordan Choir and earned an advanced degree in music at Louisiana State University, and both his grandfather and father performed and sang on different instruments. As a child, he was fascinated by music and took music lessons with his grandmother up until she passed away when he was 8 years old. He continued to play the piano with a listening to his ear, and eventually started playing the alto saxophone for the band at his elementary school however, his interest waned as he aged.
In 1996, Hill was a student at St. Augustine High School (New Orleans) due to his fascination with the school’s “Marching 100” band, but he also enrolled in high school sports. Even though he received starting spots on both football and track teams, he chose to focus on music. He turned down athletic scholarships from collegiate athletics to attend Howard University to study Jazz Voice and Audio Production.
Later that year he returned to New Orleans in 2006 and began working and writing articles for Nola.com’s Music and Culture sections.
