William Ross Turpin (born February 8th 1971) is an American musician from the United States. He is most well-known as the bassist of the band Collective Soul. He also is an independent artist and performs with his backing band the Way. The debut EP, The Lighthouse, was released in the year 2011. He is the owner of an independent record label, Gooey Music.

Turpin recorded a cover version to “What Child Is This?” to be included on his charity project A Rock By The Sea Christmas Volume Three (2012). On February 7 2013 Turpin And the Way played for a Stageit concert on stage at Real 2 Reel Studios. The show was recorded and released later as a live album, The Lighthouse (Live from Real 2 Reel Studios). Since 2013, he performed annual Christmas rock concerts called “Rock the Cradle” for churches every December.

Turpin released his debut solo album, The Lighthouse, on October 11, 2011. The five-track EP features collaborations with Collective Soul bandmates Ed Roland, Joel Kosche, and Ryan Hoyle; along with guitarist Peter Stroud. To help promote the album, Turpin formed a band known as the Way to accompany him on live shows. The band was originally comprised of Jason Fowler and Scott Davidson and Mark Wilson joining the lineup afterward. Davidson left the group in 2013.
