Dequam LaWesley Wright (born on January 28, 1985) is an American former professional baseball relief pitcher. He was a player in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Houston Astros, Tampa Bay Rays, Chicago Cubs, Baltimore Orioles, and Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim.
He was drafted for his team, the Houston Astros in the major league portion of the rule 5’s draft. He was selected by the Los Angeles Dodgers. Wright was included on the Astros Opening Day roster in 2008 as the sole Left-handed pitching pitchers in the bullpen. In March of 2008 Wright made his debut in the major leagues in the game against San Diego Padres and pitched 1/3 of an inning that was scoreless. Wright scored his debut major league victory the 4th of April, 2008 with the Chicago Cubs after pitching 1/3 of an inning that was scoreless. He recorded the first save in major league play on the 29th of July in 2008, while playing against his team the Cincinnati Reds coming in during the ninth inning with two outs. He was credited with the last score of the match to earn the save.
On December 4, 2013 he agreed to a one-year, $1.425 million deal to pitch for the Chicago Cubs. The contract became official on December 16, 2013. He was non-tendered by the Cubs on December 2, 2014.
On August 12, 2013 he was traded to the Tampa Bay Rays for cash considerations. With Tampa Bay, Wright made his playoff debut in 2013, appearing in two games of the Rays’ ALDS matchup with the Boston Red Sox. After the season, Wright was non-tendered by Tampa Bay, making him a free agent.
The year 2006 was his first full season with Vero Beach. He played for 25 games for Vero Beach, and he clocked the 1.48 ERA. He was then elevated to the Jacksonville Suns, where he started 2007 prior to an early promotion into the Las Vegas 49ers.

Wright is a native of Montgomery, Alabama, and his family lived in a Montgomery County community called Grady. He was a student at Goshen High School. He was chosen for the Los Angeles Dodgers in the 7th round of the 2003 Major League Baseball Draft. He was offered a scholarship by University of South Alabama. University of South Alabama, but he opted to join the Dodgers team in June of 2003.
He made his debut as a professional in the Ogden Raptors in the Pioneer League in 2004, and then was a part of his team the Columbus Catfish and Vero Beach Dodgers in 2005. In Columbus they, he played in 30 games and recorded an 1.93 record as an relief pitcher.
On July 16, 2009, Wright was called in to pitch in a game against the Cubs in the second inning after starter Roy Oswalt was forced from the game by a strained back. Later that night, it was reported that he was rushed to the hospital after showing signs of appendicitis. He was diagnosed with dehydration.
