Wendy Susan Machin (born 14 October 1958 in Wingham, New South Wales) was the president of the National Highways and Motorists Association (NRMA). Machin was the first female to be a member of the Nationals elected to the New South Wales Parliament and was Minister for Consumer Affairs and Minister Assisting the Minister for Roads and assisting with the Ministry of Transport between 1993 and 1995.

Machin was the Deputy Speaker and was one of the women to head Machin was the first woman to chair New South Wales Parliament. She was appointed the Minister of Consumer Affairs in the coalition government of John Fahey on 26 May 1993.

The election of the Carr Labor government in 1995 saw the coalition in opposition. Machin was appointed shadow minister for Consumer Affairs, Roads and Fisheries until she resigned from Parliament on 28 August 1996 after the birth of her second child. Her resignation prompted the 1996 Port Macquarie by election, won by then National Party member Rob Oakeshott.

Between 1997 and 2000 Machin was the Deputy Chair of the Australian Republican Movement. She was a delegate to the Constitutional Convention in February 1998, elected by a voluntary ballot run by the Australian Electoral Commission

Wendy Machin married David Bell David Bell, who was the former head of Australian Bankers Association, an ex-highly placed executive at Westpac as well as the chief executive of the Actuaries Institute and who is now the Director for CT Australasia, on 20 July 1991. They have three children: James, Georgia and Emma. Her sole sibling, Janne, was left severely disabled following a challenging birth.

Machin was a member of Machin was employed by the Young National Party as a field organiser, and later as a member of the State Executive and as the Communications Officer of the National Party of Australia from 1981 to 1982. In 1983, she was elected to the North Sydney Municipal Council an independent alderman at the age of 25, and served until 1985 when she entered an election by-election in Gloucester, the New South Wales Legislative Assembly seat of Gloucester on the 12th of October.

Her seat in Gloucester was abolished prior to the state election of 1988 which is why she contested the newly reconstructed seat of Manning which covered part of the region. Manning was then abolished following one term. The majority area was combined with Port Macquarie at the 1991 state election and Machin was successfully transferred to Port Macquarie.

Machin became the President of Save the Children Fund NSW in 1996, remaining in that position until 2000, as well as serving on the National Council for the Prevention of Child Abuse and Neglect.
