Veremeenko was selected into the 2nd round (48th selection) in the 2005 NBA draft , by the Washington Wizards on 28 June 2006. He didn’t join the team, but he moved to a different Super League side, BC Khimki in the following year after the bankruptcy of Dynamo Saint Petersburg. In his two years with BC Khimki, Veremeenko did not manage to make it into the first team, and felt frustrated with the status of a substitute, even in the midst of a time when the Russian team was fighting for championships (winning in 2008 the Russian Cup). The Wizards offered him a chance to play during the NBA Summer League in July 2008. His stats in the form of 3.8 scores and 3.6 rebound in just 11 minutes of play was his sole career contribution to the Wizards as his rights were utilized as a makeweight in a salary-cap-driven deal that included Kirk Hinrich and Kevin Seraphin from the Chicago Bulls. On July 7th the 7th of July, the rights of his were transferred with Cleveland Cavaliers. Cleveland Cavaliers alongside Mike Dunleavy, Jr. in exchange for Draft rights for Albert Miralles, which was made in order for the Bulls to take on Dwyane Wade.
He moved to Spanish side CAI Zaragoza in August 2014, but bought out his contract a month later to accept a better paid offer from Turkish outfit Banvit, not even playing a friendly game with the Spaniards. His time with Banvit would see him break the all-time EuroCup record for total rebounds with a new mark of 476 over eight seasons, ending the season with 543; from averages of 9.1 points and 4.3 rebounds per game in the competition in addition to 10.4 points and 5.1 rebounds in the Turkish Super League. On 18 August 2015, Veremeenko signed with Italian Serie A outfit Grissin Bon Reggio Emilia for one year.
On 11 August 2016, Veremeenko signed with German club Brose Bamberg for the 2016–17 season.
Veremeenko joined Russian team Avtodor Saratov in 2002, with an average of 14.2 scores and seven rebounds per game in his second year in the Russian Super League. The owner of the club Vladimir Radionov moved the club to Saint Petersburg to form Dynamo, Veremeenko followed him. Veremeenko would contribute 12.6 per game in terms of points as well as 5.5 points per game towards the club’s win in 2005. FIBA Europe League title.

The son of basketball players who are professional, Veremeenko was an early prodigy when he began his career with the local side Gomel aged 15and playing in the 1999-2000 Korac Cup before making the Belarusian league All-Star Game the next season.
Veremeenko was part of one of the Belarus under-age teams, and played in the Under-18s from 2002. He then joined the Under-20s in the 2004 European Championship. He began playing for the national senior team in 2003. He was playing with the team from Division B EuroBasket in 2005 and 2007.
Signed by UNICS Kazan in August 2008, the big man quickly rediscovered his form. He would spend a total of six seasons as a vital part of Kazan’s successes, two Russian Cups in 2009 and 2014 (with Veremeenko making the All- Cup team in 2014) and the 2011 EuroCup.
