Bystrov began his career at the Youth club Smena. He joined Smena in 2001. was transferred to Zenit. On May 8, 2002 the day he was the first player to make his debut for the Zenit team. The year 2005 was the time he was unsatisfied as he lost his spot in the team and was not playing as much as what he had hoped for. Following a scandal within Zenith’s management, he was transferred into FC Spartak Moscow.
