Vittore Baroni (born 1956 in Forte dei Marmi, Italy) is an Italian mail artist musician, music critic, and the explorer of the countercultures. Since the mid-1970s, he was one of his most energetic and well-known supporters and researchers of mail art.

In the past 30 years, he has organised numerous exhibitions as well as publications, events and projects collectively in the areas of audio art, mail art underground comics, visual poetry and street art, such as hundred issues of Arte Postale! Mail art magazines. He was the creator of formal networking projects like the TRAX modular system (1981-1987) and the multi-layered name variations Lieutenant Murnau and Luther Blissett and the Stickerman project, and F.U.N. (Funtastic United Nations, since 2001).

In 1992 he created, with Piermario Ciani, the Stickerman Museum devoted to all forms of adhesive art. In addition to writing the influential books, Arte Postale, guida al network della corrispondenza creativa (1997) and Postcarts – Cartoline d’artista (2005), he also edited the books Rubber Stamp Art by John Held Jr. (1999) and Artistamps by James Warren Felter (2002)

In 2000, Baroni was Curator of the Mail Art section for a large retrospective exhibition on the art avant-gardes of the 20th century, Sentieri Interrotti at the Museo d’Arte Moderna of Bassano del Grappa. He is co-founder of the cultural association BAU in Viareggio.

Baroni has been producing and publishing audio recordings since the year 1980, when he first began recording as Lieutenant Murnau. In 1991, he formed along with Piermario Cieni, the multi-media group TRAX that produces books, cassettes, magazines as well as live shows, t-shirts, and t-shirts in 1991. In the same year, he joined the music group Le Forbici di Manitu which continues to release CD editions.
