After spending the entirety of 2008 in Toledo In the summer of 2008, he was declared off waivers by Boston Red Sox. A few months later, he was reclaimed of waivers with the San Diego Padres, followed by another waiver claim from Pittsburgh Pirates. Pittsburgh Pirates two weeks after that.
