Minnetti first began her singing career in the year 1968 under her name Virginia and then began singing alongside her husband in a duet titled Renzo and Virginia. A few years later, Virginia was discovered by Giancarlo Luciariello, the producer for the Italian rock group Pooh. He came up with the image of an attractive, delicate and sexy woman for her and her way of singing using the most subdued voice.
The year 1979 is when Virginia begins singing as Viola Valentino. Her first hit song Comprami (“Buy My”) became her most famous song and sold an enormous quantity in Italy as well as Spain.
