He is dedicated to the growth and advancement of scientific research within Africa as an AIMS-Senegal Co-founder Institute [3(3) (2011) and the president of the Association pour la Promotion Scientifique de l’Afrique 4 that he founded in the year 2009. He also is the co-organizer of the Poincare Seminars held at Institut Henri Poincare.
Rivasseau’s studies focus on the theory of quantum field theories that is constructive and the renormalization theory that has applications to the theory of many bodies including quantum interactions between particles in solid state Physics. Since 2004, he’s been researching quantum field theories for noncommutative spacetime and then groups field theories. Since 2011, he has been developing the tensor track method to quantum gravity, based in random tensors (higher-dimensional generalizations of random matrixes).

Rivasseau was a student from 1974 until 1978, at Ecole Normale Superieure and then in 1978/79 , he was at Princeton University with Arthur Wightman as his advisor.
