Vincent Askew is one of the most popular and richest American basketball player who was born on February 28, 1966 in Memphis, Tennessee, United States. Vincent Jerome Askew (born February 28th the 28th of February, 1996) was an American professional basketball player who retired who played nine seasons with the National Basketball Association (NBA) with eight teams. A 6’6″ guard forward, Askew played college basketball for Memphis State University. He was taken care of by his maternal grandmother who had 13 children and the custody of Askew and three cousins.

Askew was also a player also in Italy with Serie A team Arimo Bologna (1989) as well as Serie A2 teams Emmezeta Udine (1990-1991) and Sidis Reggio Emilia (1992).

He was brought back to the NBA by the Golden State Warriors to finish the 1992 season, then he went to the Sacramento Kings for part of a season, then drifted to the Seattle SuperSonics. For four years in Seattle, he contributed about six points, four rebounds, and two assists per game. Then, he was traded to the New Jersey Nets, played one game there, then was traded to the Indiana Pacers. Larry Brown, then of the Pacers, described his trade for Askew as “I don’t know of too many guys in the league who are better defenders than him, and not everybody is as unselfish. He doesn’t worry about minutes, doesn’t worry about shots, he just worries about winning.”

He also had stints with the Denver Nuggets and the Portland Trail Blazers, where he was waived for a final time in 1997–1998 season.

Askew was selected from the Philadelphia 76ers in the second round (39th overall) of the 1987 NBA draft. After 14 games. He then played three weeks playing with the Washington Bullets, and then was drafted to the Continental Basketball Association.

Askew was an Frayser High School graduate prior to enrolment in Memphis State University. He was a major participant on the Tigers 1984-85 team which made it to the Final Four. Askew was among the most experienced player on the team. Askew is the only player to be named Most Valuable Player in two straight years (1990 and 1991) in the Continental Basketball Association. He also had a stint in the World Basketball League.
