In December 2009 Victoria Vox performed mouth trumpet in the “Meal or No Meal” segment of The Jay Leno Show. After being spotted by the producers on YouTube.com and auditioning on the phone, singing the Lady Gaga song “Poker Face”. For the Jay Leno’s show, Vox sang a song from the European hit song “The Final Countdown” despite her personal preference for original compositions. Vox was presented with an 8-course meal voucher dollars to Benihana, a Japanese eatery Benihana in recognition of her appearance during the segment. The segment featured an individual rendition of her “mouth trumpet” which she creates by singing through lips that are slightly parted, to the left side of her mouth.

At the age of 16 Vox lived for a year in France where she lived with the same French family and learning to speak of her French language. She started playing guitar at age 17 and a year later, she enrolled in her first college, the Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts., where she was within the dorm with the singer and songwriter John Mayer who said he composed the track Victoria of his 1999 album Inside Is Out regarding her. While at Berklee she recorded her first collaboration album in a band that included Victoria as well as The Ultra Pink Bicycle Incident. In 2000 she received her honors of Berklee College of Music. They released their own album of acoustic music and toured the nation. Vox started to include the ukulele and bass to the music of the group and, in 2004, she released In Between, an acoustic EP that started to experiment with pop-inspired sounds that were not present in her previous albums. After this album, the ukulele was her main instrument, and the fans wanted an album that focused on the ukulele. In 2006, following the move away from Green Bay to Baltimore, Maryland She released her first album of ukulele songs with Obus Records. The album was called Victoria Vox and Her Jumping Flea due to the fact that “jumping flea” is the literal meaning from”ukulele” which is the literal translation of Hawaiian phrase “ukulele”. Even though her professional performing repertoire includes little traditional Hawaiian Ukulele music, following the release of Chameleon, Vox gained renown for her usage of the ukulele in pop music. Vox is included in a brief segment in the extras of the release on DVD of Mighty Uke: The Amazing Return from a Musician Underdog an upcoming documentary about the Ukulele.

Other recent awards (2010–12) include six Washington Area Music Awards (Wammies) (for Folk – Contemporary Vocalist, Contemporary Album of the Year, and Fan Favorite) and the people’s vote for the “Vox Pop” award for Adult Contemporary Album of the Year (Exact Change) in 10th Annual Independent Music Awards.
