Victor Leandro Bagy (born 21 January 1983) is popularly referred to as Victor Bagy, is a Brazilian professional footballer who is a player with Atletico Mineiro as a goalkeeper.
On the 21st of May, 2009 Victor received his second call-up (2005 was his initial) for the Brazilian national team for the 2010 FIFA World Cup qualification. On the 10th of August, 2010 Victor made his debut for the main squad. He played in a 2-0 friendly that they won against United States. He was selected as an extra goalkeeper in the Brazilian team for 2009. FIFA Confederations Cup. Additionally he was part of the team for 2011 Copa America. On May 7, 2014. Victor made it into the squad of 23 men team for the this year’s FIFA World Cup.
Victor has represented the Brazilian national team since 2010, being part of the 2009 FIFA Confederations Cup winning squad, also being included in the 2011 Copa América and 2014 FIFA World Cup teams.
On 29 June 2012, Victor joined Atlético Mineiro for a €3.5 million fee, signing a five-year contract. He immediately became the first-choice goalkeeper in his new club, appearing in 29 matches as Galo finished second in the 2012 Campeonato Brasileiro. In 2013, Victor was one of the key figures of Atlético Mineiro’s 2013 Copa Libertadores winning run. An iconic moment for him and the club happened in the second leg of that competition’s quarter- finals, when a penalty kick was awarded to Club Tijuana in injury time. It would have meant elimination for Atlético if it had been scored, but was saved by Victor with his foot. The save, according to sports commentators and fans, represented the kicking out of the club’s historic “bad luck”. Victor also made saves in the penalty shoot-outs against Newell’s Old Boys in the semi- finals and Club Olimpia in the finals, and was elected the competition’s best goalkeeper.
On the 18th of December 2007 Victor joined Gremio as a player, with his new club Tricolor paying R$400,000 to purchase a portion of his registered rights. He was still a starter during his initial games with the club, but was struck by an injury on February 24, 2008 and was out for one and a half months. Victor was able to return from injury and was a definite regular throughout the year and played in all games throughout the Brasileirao and winning the Premio Crape of Brasileirao for the top goalie in the tournament. He once again proved to be the top player in the championship, taking home each of the Bola de Prata and the Craque do Brasileirao However, his performance was cut down due to his call-ups to the national team. The summer was when Victor has been linked to Bari and Benfica however the connection was not a success.

In Santo Anastacio, Victor joined Sao Paulo FC’s youth team in 1997, at the age of 14 years old. Then, a year later, he transferred towards Paulista FC, due to the possibility of not being able to play in the first team. Victor was selected to the main squad in the year 2000 however, he had to wait until 2003 before making his debut for the senior squad. His first few years were mostly as a substitute for Rafael Bracalli, but in 2006, following the latter’s change to C.D. Nacional the club, he was selected as the first choice. Victor was also part of the team that took home at the Copa do Brasil, but continued to play as a substitute during the two stages of the semi-final.
After starting his career with Paulista in Brazil, where he played his first six professional seasons and was crowned the Copa do Brasil in 2005, Victor moved to Gremio in 2008, and finished in the runner-up position of the Campeonato Brasileiro Serie A in his debut season. He was awarded the Premio Craque do Brasileirao two times as well as the Bola de Prata award once as the most effective goalie in this league in his time at Gremio. Then, he moved to Atletico Mineiro in 2012, which was where he won the Copa Libertadores in 2013 (being named the top goalie at the time) and also the Copa do Brasil in 2014 in addition to being runners-up in the Brasileiro twice.
On 18 June 2010, he signed a new contract with Grêmio, running until 2015. Victor remained in the starting eleven, and his side finished fourth. However, in the following years, Grêmio struggled to keep the same levels of the past seasons, but he appeared 32 times in 2011.
