Victor H. “Vic” Kohring (born August 2 1958) is a former representative of the Alaska House of Representatives. A Republican Kohring was elected for seven two-year term terms that began in 1994. Kohring was a member of Wasilla district 26 and District 14 following redistricting in the wake of 2001’s U.S. Census. He resigned on 19 July 2007, following an investigation into corruption.

In 2014, Kohring became Kohring was the Alaskan Independence Party candidate for the U.S. Senate from Alaska. Kohring resigned from the race in September 2014 and later endorsed Republican opponent Dan Sullivan.

Kohring was a candidate to be a member of the Wasilla City Council. Kohring was defeated with a margin of 2-1 on October 1st, 2013.

Kohring was indicted for federal charges of extortion and corruption on May 4 2007. Kohring, alongwith the former legislators from state, Republicans Pete Kott and Bruce Weyhrauch, were accused of accepting bribes and soliciting them from VECO the oilfield service company. The offices of the trio were one among 20 that were inspected by FBI agents on August 31, 2006. Kohring was forced to leave his position on June 20, 2007. On the 1st of November the 1st of November, 2007, a federal jury found him guilty on three of four charges. He was found him not guilty on the fourth one count of the crime of extortion. In May 2008 Kohring was sentenced to three and five year in jail. Kohring pleaded with president George W. Bush for pardon but did not get granted.

Kohring received his release on June 11th in 2009. The conviction was overturned and, in 2011, Kohring accepted a plea bargain in exchange for the time served as well as conditions on his release.
