Veronika Part is one of the most popular and richest Dancer who was born on February 21, 1978 in Saint Petersburg, Russia. Veronika Part (born 21 February 1978) is the daughter of a Russian choreographer. She was the former principal dancer of the American Ballet Theatre. She is now the ballet master for Atlanta Ballet.

Part was contemplating to leave the ABT and relocating to Russia in order to continue dancing and support offstage, but she was promoted to the position of principal dancer in 2009. The decision was made to stay due to personal reasons. Following her promotion, she has performed in a variety of leading roles in the company’s repertoire, which included work composed by McKenzie, Frederick Ashton, George Balanchine and Alexei Ratmansky. She created roles for them, such as Natalia as part of the ballet On the Dnieper and Lilac Fairy in his adaptation of The Sleeping Beauty.

In 2017, Part retired from ABT as her contract was not renewed. Her departure was announced days before her final performance. Her fans started a petition on Change.org to ask the company’s leadership to let Part stay. Part exited the company following a performance of Balanchine’s Mozartiana.

Part was first staged at New York City in 1999 in 1999 with Mariinsky part as in the role of Lilac Fairy for The Sleeping Beauty and caught the interest to American Ballet Theatre director Kevin McKenzie. When she came back three years later to play The role of the Odette Swan Lake, McKenzie invited her to be an individual dancer with the company. She agreed. Part was speaking English in the early days. Her debut came with ABT during the Japan tour. She started out playing as a support role, but then gained more prominence in roles.

Veronika Part was born St. Petersburg. The doctor who gave her birth claimed that she was beautiful with her legs, and her mother believed that Part was destined to be an ballet dancer. But, Part started in gymnastics at the age of four and continued to train for six years. At the age of 10 her mom arranged for her to audition for the Vaganova Academy of Russian Ballet. The academy accepted her and she began classes at the school. She graduated in 1996 with the help that was taught by Inna Zubkovskaya.

At the age of 18 Part was a member of in the Kirov Ballet (now Mariinsky Ballet) and was an individual dancer in 1998. At the age of 20 she debuted as Odette/Odile Swan Lake and the title role in Raymonda. The Kirov played George Balanchine’s Jewels. She was directed by Gabriella Komleva, Ninel Kurgapkina, Yelena Yevteyeva and Lubov Kunakova. She was awarded the BALTIKA Prize in 1999. The Kirov performed extensively throughout this period and Part performed in a variety of countries across several continents. She became dissatisfied with her inability to advancement and her being overlooked for principal roles even when she was dancing in principal roles. She started to search Europe to see if there were possibilities.

Outside of ABT, she had appeared on Late Show with David Letterman. She had danced with the Royal New Zealand Ballet as a guest artist. She also participated in projects by the Kennedy Center and Metropolitan Opera. In 2012, she had returned to the Mariinsky in 2012 as guest to perform in Swan Lake. The following year, she appeared in documentary Ballet’s Greatest Hits, dancing the White Swan pas de deux.
