Veaceslav Iordan was born the 12th of June 1967 in the small village Chircaiesti, Causeni District. After completing high school in his hometown town of Chircaiesti in 1983 he was an undergraduate in the Faculty of Engineering of the Academy of Construction in Kharkov (Ukraine). After a year of studies, the student completed his compulsory military service with the Soviet Army, during the period 1984-86. In 1986, he returned to the Academy in which was able to continue his studies and earned the degree of engineer. He was employed as an engineer in the engineering department at Hotel Inturist from 1993-1998. In 1998, he was hired as the head of maintenance services to Railways of Moldova. In 2000, he was appointed deputy director general of capital and social construction within the same organization.

In 2003, Veaceslav Iordan won election the municipal councilor of Chisinau in the lists of Chisinau’s Party of Communists of the Republic of Moldova and on the 13th of April in 2006, he was elected the deputy Mayor of Chisinau municipality. In his new role Iordan was in charge of the issues that concern the community infrastructure transportation, roads and funeral services, lighting in public areas as well as green spaces. He was also accountable for the activities that comprised “Termocom” JSC, “Apa-canal Chisinau” JSC CET-1 and CET-2 “Chisinau-Gaz “.

On August 1, 2007, the Government of the Republic of Moldova appointed Veaceslav Iordan as general director of the “Apele Moldovei” Agency.

At the local elections on June 3, 2007, Veaceslav Iordan obtained only 27.62% of the votes, with only three percent more than the first candidate Dorin Chirtoacă, and in the second round held on June 17, 2007, given to the coalition of the majority of the opposition parties, he obtained only 38.83% of the votes and lost the elections.
