Vasundhara Raje was born March 8, 1953, in Bombay (now Mumbai). She is the daughter of Vijayaraje Scindia – Shinde and Jivajirao Scindia Shinde and Jivajirao Scindia Shinde Maharaja of Gwalior who are members of the famous Scindia royal Maratha family. She graduated from school at Presentation Convent, Kodaikanal, Tamil Nadu, and later completed her studies with Political and Economics Sciences qualifications at Sophia College, affiliated to Mumbai University, Mumbai.

2007 was the year she was awarded in 2007 the “Women Together Award” by the UNO for her work in the direction of self-empowering women.

In 2018, Rajasthan MLA Ghanshyam Tiwari (BJP) accused Vasundhara Raje’s government of corruption and accused the BJP’s central leadership of shielding her. He also accused Raje of appointing “her cronies” in important posts. Later that year Tiwari resigned in protest.

She also served as the 13th Chief Minister of Rajasthan from 2013 until 11 December 2018. Vasundhara Raje was married Maharaj Rana Hemant Singh, of the royal Dholpur family on the 17th of November, 1972. However, the couple split a year after. The son of her Dushyant Singh was elected to the Lok Sabha from her previous district, Jhalawar. Her siblings include Yashodhara Raje Scindia, who was the former minister of the industry in Madhya Pradesh, the late Madhavrao Scindia, and the deceased Padmavati Raje ‘Akkasaheb’ Burman (1942-64) who was married to Kirit Deb Burman the last Maharaja ruling of Tripura as well as Usha the Raje (b. 1943) who got married into the Rana family from Nepal.
