Vassilis Leventis (Greek: Basileios (Basiles) Lebentes , Greek pronunciation:”va, siyos va,silis le’vendis” born on 2 November 1951 , in Messene, Messenia) is a Greek politician and leader of the Greek centrist party, Union of Centrists (Enose Kentroon ) since 1992. He was a an MP from the past serving from 2015 until the year 2019.

He was the founder of the party in 1984. established the first environmental party in Greece and was a participant during the European Elections of the same year, but only securing 0.15 percent of the votes.

In the Greek elections of 1989, he was an MP candidate with the New Democracy party but failed to elect.

In a 1992 congress, he decided to found the Union of Centrists, which strove to become “the political continuance of the centrist expression in Greece”. Leventis aimed to become part of the legacy of some great politicians of the past, such as Eleftherios Venizelos and Georgios Papandreou. However, until 2015, the party’s influence was marginal, with 1.79% of the total vote in the January 2015 Greek legislative election and no MPs being its highest achievement. In the September 2015 Greek legislative election the party cleared the 3% hurdle for representation in the Greek Parliament with 9 MPs after it won 186,457 votes (3.43%).

His first encounter with politics began in 1975 , when, as an assistant to Kyprianos Biris, then the dean of the Athens Polytechnic University, Kyprianos Biris, he participated in the writing of Articles 21 , 24, and 25 of the Greek Constitution and also participated in the formation of his participation in the DEPOS project.
