Vasil Kiryienka is one of the most popular and richest Sport Cyclist who was born on June 28, 1981 in Rechytsa, Gomel Region, Belarus. Born in Recyca in the Belorussian S.S.R. at the age of 1981. Kiryienka took home his very first time-trial championship national in the year 2002. His early racing career was focused on the track, and in 1981 Kiryienka took home in the Points Race at the 2008 UCI Track Cycling World Championships. In the following season, Kiryienka was the winner of Stage 19 of the Giro d’Italia which was a mountainous race that led to Presolana after having spent the day on the offensive and clocking more than six hours and one-half hours on the bike. He fought his six breakaway partners at the bottom of the Monte Para climb and soloed to the finish line for victory, with an average of four minutes.

On May 23, 2011 in the Giro d’Italia, Kiryienka’s Movistar Team teammate Xabier Tondo died in an accident incident at home as he was getting ready to train with teammates. Tondo was believed to have been trapped between his vehicle and a garage door. Five days after, Kiryienka rode to victory as a solo rider in Stage 20, a mountain top finish in Sestriere He gave the victory to Tondo by pointing upwards when his final finish line approached. The team had discussed pulling out of the race following Tondo’s death, however, the riders decided to keep riding. Kiryienka stated that the team at the Giro was hoping to win another stage win (as Francisco Ventoso’s win been prior to Tondo’s death) to pay tribute to him and others on the team mourned the family of Tondo.

In September 2012, Kiryienka finished third in the individual time trial at the road world championships.

In May 2015, Kiryienka won the individual time trial of the Giro d’Italia, which was 59.5 kilometres (37.0 miles) long and relatively rolling. In June 2015, he won the individual time trial at the inaugural European Games in Baku, Azerbaijan. On 23 September 2015, Kiryienka won the individual time trial at the road world championships in Richmond, Virginia, United States.

In 2010, he was second in the 10th part of the Tour de France after he was defeated at the point at Gap to Sergio Paulinho (Team RadioShack) after the pair’s decisive move after 14 km (8.7 miles) remaining.
