The year 2013 was when Low met her co-worker German athletics player Katrin Green who was living in the United States and was married to American athlete Roderick Green. While working in Green and the Greens, Low found her love for athletics revived. She was inspired to relocate to the United States and brought Roderick in as her new coach. In the final months of 2013, she returned to Germany and this time, at the 13th World Championships in Lyon. She won two bronze medals, both in the 100m sprint as well as the long jump. The next year, she made a significant leap in her long leap, in which she participated at in the IPC Athletics European Championships in Swansea. The jump of 4.24m was an improvement from her previous competitions, when she was unable to jump over four meters. It was the result that saw her take home the gold medal and, more importantly she defeated her two main competitors in the world: Schmidt and Italy’s Martina Caironi.
In the build up to the 2016 Summer Paralympics in Rio, Low competed at the 2015 World Championships in Doha. In the 100m sprint she posted a personal best of 15.41s to win the silver medal, but it was her world record distance of 4.79m in the long jump that not only gave her the gold but also set her out as the athlete to beat at Rio.
In 2016, Low is the only actively competing female track athlete with two above knee amputations of her legs. Despite the severity of these amputations and despite her having to compete with athletes having one fully functional leg, she successfully made it to the Finals of all of her sprint and long jump competitions at both the 2012 Summer Paralympics in London and the 2016 Summer Paralympics in Rio. In Rio she won the Gold medal with a 4.93m world record distance in the T42 long jump and a Silver medal in the T42 100m competition.
In 2012, Low was able to compete in both 100m sprint as well as long jump events in the Summer Paralympics in London. The long jump was available to three categories, F42 to F44, and was determined by through a points-based system. Her highest score of 3.93m resulted in sixth position. In the sprint, she ran an average time of 16.78 that put her just outside of the medal positions and was fourth, just behind teammate Jana Schmidt. Low was dissatisfied by her performance at the Games and with her general training prior for the Paralympics. She spoke with her trainer, Steffi Nerius, and made the decision to stop competing in the competitive sports.

A year later, she was chosen to the German national team and traveled across the ocean to Christchurch located in New Zealand to compete at the 2011 IPC Athletics World Championships. In the event, she placed 4th in the long leap and took silver in the T42 100m sprint.
At the 2016 Summer Paralympics in Rio de Janeiro, she won the gold medal with a 4.93m world record distance in the T42 long jump and a silver medal in the T42 100m competition with a personal best of 15.17s.
