The year 2009 was the time he won the Alaska State Champion in his 7.5k classical race. In January of 2010, Kornfield came in second in the US National Championships Spring (SP) 1.5 km race. He also took home his first race in the US National Championships SP 1 km race.
Kornfield competed for the United States at the 2018 Winter Olympics in the men’s 15 kilometre freestyle, coming in 74th out of 119 competitors and in the Men’s 50 kilometer classic, coming in 48 out of 69 competitors.
