Glasnow was optioned to Indianapolis in June after compiling a 7.45 ERA and 1.91 WHIP over 12 starts. He spent the remainder of the season with Indianapolis, where he was 9–2 with a 1.93 ERA over 15 starts, before he returned to Pittsburgh during September call-ups. In 15 games for the Pirates, he compiled a 2–7 record, a 7.69 ERA, and a 2.012 WHIP.
On July 31, 2018, Glasnow was traded to the Tampa Bay Rays, along with Austin Meadows and a player to be named later, later revealed to be Shane Baz, for Chris Archer. He was immediately inserted into their starting rotation. In his 11 starts with Tampa Bay, Glasnow posted an earned run average of 4.20, recording 64 strikeouts in 55 ⁄3 innings.

Tyler Allen Glasnow (born August 23rd 1993) is an American professional baseball player who plays with the Tampa Bay Rays of Major League Baseball (MLB). He was previously a player for the Pittsburgh Pirates in MLB as a member of The Pittsburgh Pirates.
Glasnow was a student at William S. Hart High School in Santa Clarita, California. He made a commitment to play baseball in college for the University of Portland. In 2011, the Pittsburgh Pirates selected Glasnow in the fifth round of the 2011 Major League Baseball draft.
