Michael Tyler Hensley (born July 30 1993) is an American professional baseball player. Hensley was a first-round selection by the New York Yankees in the 2012 Major League Baseball draft.
Hensley resided in Tulsa, Oklahoma, before his family relocated from there to Lawrence, Kansas. He was slated to be enrolled at Lawrence Free State High School. However, the strict rules on the number of games he could participate in for the team of high school baseball forced the family to move to Oklahoma and this allowed for a more extensive program for the high school team. He was a student at Edmond Santa Fe High School in Edmond, Oklahoma, where He played on the team’s baseball team as catcher and pitcher, and also on the American football team as an offensive quarterback. Hensley quit football when he was an adult to focus on his baseball. His senior year was the best of his career. Hensley recorded a loss record, and an 1.52 earned run-adjusted (ERA) of 55/3 innings pitched and 111 strikeouts. He also was awarded The Gatorade Champion by the state of his home.

At the 2016 Winter Meetings, the Tampa Bay Rays selected Hensley from the Yankees in the minor league phase of the Rule 5 draft. He missed the 2017 season due to injury. The Rays released Hensley, and he signed with the Evansville Otters of the Frontier League, an independent baseball league, in May 2018. In 2019, Hensley pitched for the Utica Unicorns of the United Shore Professional Baseball League.
Following the signing Hensley began his career during Minor League Baseball with the Gulf Coast Yankees of the Rookie-level Gulf Coast League. The Yankees pitched him 12 innings. Gulf Coast Yankees. Hensley was a target for a variety of colleges and baseball teams as well as The University of Kansas recruited him to play baseball in college as well as college football. He narrowed down his options to three finalist universities that included Ole Miss, the University of Mississippi (Ole Miss) and Ole Miss, the University of Texas, and Arizona State University. Following the 2014 season, Hensley was assaulted and seriously injured in a town near his home. Anthony Morales, an American football linebacker who played college football for Weber State University, allegedly attacked Hensley, kicking him in the head, when they argued about signing bonuses, and Hensley refused to tell Morales how much he received in his signing bonus. Hensley lost consciousness and suffered a broken jaw. He spent several days at INTEGRIS Southwest Medical Center. Morales was charged with aggravated assault and battery, but later acquitted of the crimes.
