Tuan Yi-kang is one of the most popular and richest Politician who was born on November 14, 1963 in Taipei, Taiwan. Tuan Yi-kang (Chinese: Duan Yi Kang Pinyin: Duan Yikang ; born 14 November 1963) is a Taiwanese politician from Taiwan. Formerly, he was the head in the Democratic Progressive party’s formerly defunct New Tide faction, he was a member of its Central Standing Committee, the Taipei City Council and the Legislative Yuan.
Tuan has been elected to The DPP Central Standing Committee in 2010. He ran in his 2012 elections for the legislature as an opponent in Taipei’s second District, but then resigned from the district primary. He was elected to the Legislative Yuan through the proportional representation ballot. He also was reelected as a member of the CSC. Tuan was added to an electoral list for proportional representation for the 2016 elections and was elected to the at- large position. Then, in June Tuan announced that he was retiring out of politics by the close the term of 2020 because he hoped for reforms that his support over time during his term to be implemented by the time he was retiring.
Tuan claimed in January 2015 that President Ma Ying-jeou illegally accepted NT$200 million from various businesspeople during his 2008 presidential campaign. Later that month Ma filed a lawsuit against Tuan for NT$10 million. In February 2016, the Taipei District Court ordered Tuan to pay Ma NT$600,000. The penalty was retained in a December 2016 Taiwan High Court ruling.
Fellow Democratic Progressive Party member and incumbent Hualien City mayor Tien Chih-hsuan [zh] died in May 2016, and the DPP lost the subsequent by- election in August. After the results of the vote were announced, Tuan made Facebook posts that were critical of Hualien voters, for which he apologized. In September, Tuan accused Radio Taiwan International of “assisting” unification efforts, by renting low-cost airtime to the China-based Guangdong Television.
He took a primary victory over David Huang, losing to Kuomintang incumbent Lin Yu-fang the legislative elections of 2008.

Tuan began his political career working with legislators Lu Hsiu-yi as well as Hung Chi-chang Yeh Chu-lan. Tuan served as Kao Chih-peng’s campaign manager during Kao’s run in 1993 in the race for Penghu County Magistrate. The year 1994 was the time Tuan became a member of his seat on the Taipei City Council, and was on the council until 2002. Tuan became a member of Taipei’s Legislative Yuan later that year and was defeated during his 2005 reelection election. Tuan was the principal organizer for New Tide, the New Tide faction, before it was disbanded in the year. The year 2008 was the last time Tuan was a member of the Democratic Progressive Party as deputy secretary-general. He quit in March.
Lien Chan’s child Lien Hui-hsin was sued by Tuan on slander charges in 2004 for the claim that she assisted her father in tax fraud.
In December 2015, Tuan accused Wang Ju-hsuan of improperly profiting in the real estate market by acquiring multiple properties intended to house military families. Wang sued Tuan for defamation, but the Taipei District Prosecutors’ Office dropped the case, and also found that none of Wang’s real estate deals were illegal.
