Tomu Ranju Biography

Tomu Ranju is one of the most popular and richest Actor who was born on August 12, 1975 in Nishinomiya, Hyōgo Prefecture, Japan. Her post- Takarazuka duties are focussed on concert and dinner shows however, there are acting roles in television dramas and appearances on variety shows . The relationship she has with Takarazuka Revue remains close, and she was selected to take part in two centennial celebrations. These included recording Reijin the album, which was recorded with other Otokoyaku OGs and performing in the celebration concert for the post-mortem birthday celebration of Fubuki Koshiji who was a Takarazuka OG from the 1940s who was a legend in Japanese entertainment culture.

In 2001, she began getting cast in leading roles in amateur productions. The year 2002 was the year she was given her first leading part on the stage in the Bow Hall production of Tsuki no Hokage and was able to share Jiroukichi’s role as Jiroukichi’s main character along with Ayabuki Mao. The that same year Ranju was awarded the Newcomer of the Year Award.

In February 2009, Ranju was cast in the lead role for another Bow Hall production Phoenix Wright (逆転裁判 -蘇る真実), based on the Capcom legal thriller video game Ace Attorney. The production was so well-received that the revue presented a sequel, Phoenix Wright 2 (逆転裁判2 -蘇る真実、再び・・・) just six months later. These 2 productions greatly boosted and attested to Ranju’s popularity and her talent, leading to her first Takarazuka concert “R”ising!! in 2010.

In 2011, as Sei Matobu retired, Ranju was re-assigned back to Flower Troupe as the next otokoyaku top star. She debuted as top star in the Takarazuka production of Phantom.

In 1996, Sakamoto was a top student in her class. She then was accepted into the show. According to tradition, a student would have decided the stage title (subject to approval by the revue) and then change to the stage name at the time. Sakamoto began to be known by the stage name of Tomu Ranju. Her stage title was requested by her teachers and her family. The initial title “tomu” was going to be written in kanji “Ren Meng “, which is a way of giving people dreams However, the kanji was thought to be too complex, so it became the Hiragana version “tomu”. The name that is the last “Lan Shou ” is the variant in kanji that comes from “l’ange”, French for “angel”. In keeping with Takarazuka traditions, she has several names (given by her fellow Takarazuka actors and their admirers): Tomu (tomu), Mayu (mayu), Rantomu (rantomu).

Tomu Ranju (Lan Shou tomu , Ranju Tomu born on 12th August, 1975) is a Japanese actor/singer who is most well-known as Takarazuka Revue’s otokoyaku (Nan Yi Takarazuka actresses who perform male roles) leading star between 2011 and 2014. Ranju is thought to be one of the top singers the revue has had in recent past, and was chosen to record music for many of Takazuka’s album, both during her time with the show and following her “graduated” from Takarazuka Revue.

In 1994, which was a year of record low acceptance rates of 2%, Sakamoto was accepted into the Takarazuka Music School with the best score. Through her two years at the academy, she had her status of the the No. one student (all Takarazuka students and actresses are considered “pupil” until they leave the show regardless of age in popularity, fame and status).

In 2005 Ranju won the Best Effort of the Year award. In 2006, she had her own first dinner show Sensation!, further fortifying her rising popularity and singing skills. In the same year, she was reassigned to Cosmos Troupe as third lead otokoyaku. In 2007, as Yūga Yamato was promoted to Cosmos top star, Ranju was promoted to second lead.
