Tomomi Manako is one of the most popular and richest Motorcycle Racer who was born on September 16, 1972 in Saga, Japan. Manako moved to the 250cc class , riding the Yamaha to compete for Team Kurz. However , the bike was insufficiently powered and was not up to par with the top works machines of the time, and Manako did not manage to get his top result of 8th. Manako finished his final season in the world championship with a 15th-place finish.
His relationship with Kawasaki resulted in him being Chief Development Rider of Kawasaki’s 2007 ZX-6R that was officially which was launched in December of 2006.
He returned to Japanese domestic racing, this time with Kawasaki where he ran a ZX-9R, scoring a 3rd and a 5th. He also piloted a ZX-12R to 14th place in the Suzuka 8 Hours endurance race with Shigeru Yamashita.
Moving to the UGT Europa team, Manako visited the podium four times, one of which was his maiden Grand Prix win at the Catalunya Grand Prix. He finished 3rd in the Championship and won the IRTA Cup. He was now firmly established as one of the top riders in the 125cc class.
1998 was the peak of Manako’s career , as Manako put on some impressive performances in what would be a tense and controversial contest to win the championship. With the exception of three DNFs Manako never made it on the podium over 14 races, scoring five wins. His main competitor was Kazuto Sakata who was able to gain an early advantage in the title race. In the second period of the season, however, Manako was quick and steady and had narrowed the gap significantly. Following the penultimate race in the 1998 125cc Australian Grand Prix, a fuel sample was taken from Sakata’s bike and discovered to be in violation of technical rules. Sakata was not included in the race’s results and was subsequently deprived of 13 points, which would have earned him a fourth-place finish. His Aprilia team made an appeal to contest the decision.

Tomomi Manako (Zhen Zi Zhi Shi , born on 16 September 1972, in Saga Prefecture, Japan) is a Japanese professional motorcyclist. He was a participant on the Grand Prix motorcycle racing from 1994 until 1999. Manako is notable for having finished within the top 3 positions of the world championship of 125cc for three straight years just narrowly missing the title in 1998.
There is one more round to go, Manako could still win the title if he wins in 1998’s 125cc Argentine Grand Prix with Sakata not finishing higher than 4th. Racing through the field, Manako took the win and Sakata was unable to finish higher than 5th. Oddly enough, although Manako was now one points than Sakata however, he couldn’t be declared Champion since Sakata’s appeals were in the process of being decided. In November 1998, the FIM decided in favor of Sakata and reinstated his points of 13 from his participation in the Australian Grand Prix. Sakata took home the title 125 by 12 points.
Now a full-time Grand Prix rider with the team, Manako scored two more 3rd positions and was consistently finishing inside the Top 10. He finished the season 8th overall, and won the Rookie of the Year award. He again rode in the Suzuka 8 Hour with Tsujimura finishing 15th on board an RVF750.
