Rainone was back to winning habits in December 2008, but however, this time, it wasn’t in the presence of his fans in his hometown. To fight for a fight, he flew to the home of his trainer’s family in Benito Juarez, Buenos Aires Argentina to take on Santos Galli. Rainone took the lead in his first 6 rounds, before shocking Galli in the seventh round by striking him with a left to the head. This was and then a right to the body that put him down. When he was up at the number 7 Galli told the referee that he was in good shape.
2010 was a milestone year for Rainone. He opened the year with a unanimous decision win over Gerardo Cesar Prieto at Madison Square Garden. Five months later he dropped a decision to Terry Butterbaugh on the first-ever boxing card at the new Yankee Stadium. The main event in the Bronx was a WBA 154-pound title fight between Yuri Foreman and Miguel Cotto. It was televised by HBO.
Rainone is a cast member of the Off Broadway boxing play, Kid Shamrock, appearing in the production in the winter of 2011 and the summer of 2012. He was also a judge, along with Harold Lederman and Michael Bentt at the first annual Shadow Box Film Festival, the all boxing film fest.
Rainone came back to the sport in 2006 after three and five years off boxing. He was in training for six months prior to making his professional debut the veteran of ten fights Marquis McConnell at the Huntington Hilton Hotel in Melville.
