In April of 2018, Weatherston announced that he did not intend to run for the 4th term.

On November 12, 2012 Weatherston became a member of his seat in the Wisconsin State Assembly in the newly drawn the 62nd Assembly District. He was elected again in 2014 and in 2016 without opposition.

Born to Buffalo, New York, Weatherston was a member of the United States Air Force as an engineer in civil engineering and had a station within Vietnam throughout the Vietnam War. He attended Erie Community College, where earned an associate’s degree. He later completed his studies at Buffalo State College, where earned his bachelor’s degree with a major in engineering for industrial use. The year 1977 was the time that Weatherston got a job with Modine Manufacturing Company. Modine Manufacturing Company and moved to Racine, Wisconsin.

In the year 2010, Weatherston was elected to the Caledonia, Wisconsin, Village Board of Trustees and was on the board until 2013.

He instead ran to rejoin the Caledonia Village Board of Trustees in 2019. He defeated incumbent trustee Jay Benkowski in the April 2, 2019, spring general election.
