Thomas Arthur Poquette (born October 30 1951) is a retired American outfielder who played seven seasons playing Major League Baseball (MLB) with the Kansas City Royals (1973, 1976-79 1982), Boston Red Sox (1979 1981) and Texas Rangers (1981).
Poquette was an assistant manager of minor league baseball within the Royals organization, including working with Spokane Indians. Spokane Indians in 2002.
Poquette was most well-known for a sprain he sustained during an inside-the- park grand-slam that was hit by Kevin Bell in the third innings of a 14-8 defeat against the Chicago White Sox at Royals Stadium on June 22nd the 22nd of June, 1976. As he tried to make a line drive that went to left field Poquette could not stop as his spikes were stuck within the AstroTurf playing surface. As a result, the ball slammed into the wall of the outfield. He was unconscious and broke the left cheekbone in four locations. After being put on the disabled list his activation was granted by the Royals just a few months after the injury. The outfield wall of the stadium was then covered with cushions to limit the chance of this happening.

He was picked at the 4th round (80th overall) by the Royals in the 1970 MLB draft. He was a platoon player in the Royals’ American League (AL) West title teams in 1977, 1976 and 1978. He was also a part of the League Championship Series in each of those three years.
Poquette graduated in 1970 from Memorial High School in his hometown of Eau Claire, Wisconsin. As a varsity player in three sports Poquette was a player both in football and baseball for three years, as well as basketball for two years. He was part of the Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association baseball champions in his sophomore year of 1968. He was honored to be one of the 25 inductees from the athletic hall of fame back in the year 2005. He was also in the first class of inductees of the Eau Claire Baseball Hall of Fame in 2009.
