Tom Greenhalgh is one of the most popular and richest Singer who was born on November 4, 1956 in Stockholm, Stockholm County, Sweden. After Sevenoaks Five of them were enrolled at The University of Leeds, the place where a variety of punk groups. While within the Fine Arts program, Greenhalgh, Lycett, White and Jon Langford formed the Mekons in the year 1976. They worked together with Gang of Four and the Delta 5, bands that comprised students from the same program. In the political climate of the late 1970s they took part in rallies like Rock Against Racism.
Greenhalgh created Michelle Shocked’s version of Beatles’ “Lovely Rita” for the compilation Sgt. Pepper Knew My Father (1988). He also co-produced Mush’s second album Face in Space (1998). The year 1998 was the first time he collaborated on a mix with his Knights of Occasional Table. in 2000 Curve guitarist Alex Mitchell and the duo (as DJ Sparky Lightbourne and DJ Tommy Tomtom) were on stage on stage at The Foundry at Shoreditch.
Intensely private and cheeky, Greenhalgh has managed to downplay his contributions to the art and music communities for much of his career. Following a move from his long-time residence in London to Somerset, he relocated to Hong Kong between 2003 and 2005, and is rumoured to have since returned to England.
On 13 June 2007, Greenhalgh’s new band King Tommy’s Velvet Runway débuted in London. This band features Therese Daniell on keyboards and guitar, Tam McGibbon on banjo, John Langley on drums and Meiling Daniell-Greenhalgh on vocals and violin. The band’s first album, Dance on the Volcano, saw a special limited edition release in 2007.
Alongside Kevin Lycett, Steve Goulding Alongside Steve Goulding, Kevin Lycett, along with Steve Goulding, Kevin Lycett and John Gill, Greenhalgh has also been a part of Edward II and the Red Hot Polkas as well as appearing as a guest on Let’s Polkasteady (1987) and Two Step to Heaven (1989). Alongside Lycett along with Robert Worby, he participated in Leeds Metropolitan University’s A Christmas Pudding for Henry (1999) in mecity’s multimedia project. Since 1991 He and Worby have been working together on Plate and have recorded yet-to-released electronic music that is experimental. Alongside fellow Mekon Sarah Corina, he has recorded songs using banjoleles and ukuleles, one song sample (“Lowlands of Holland”) of which was played in the ResonanceFM’s Clear Spot in 2002, the show also featuring Lu Edmonds.

While mostly credited as a guitarist on the early recordings of Mekons Greenhalgh’s roles as a the lead singer and songwriter rose to the forefront when the group regrouped and changed stylistically during the 1980s.
Greenhalgh has participated in numerous Mekons-related projects, a lot of which feature Jon Langford. He was in 1985 when he served as The Three Johns’ sound engineer on their first American tour. A video of their Chicago performance was made available under the title Live at Chicago. As part of The Jelly Bishops, he collaborated with Langford and John Hyatt, releasing the album Kings of Barstool Mountain (1988). Langford as well as Langford are featured in the Gary Lucas 1993 movie, “Skin the Rabbit,” and also have songwriting credit for “On the Streets,” included as a track on The Return of Rico Bell (1996). Greenhalgh has also appeared on the Langford-produced Pine Valley Cosmonauts albums, including an original cover of Hank Williams’s “Angel of Death” to the death penalty’s benefit in 2003 The Executioner’s Final Songs Vol. 2 & 3. The guitar (and his vocals) is heard in the Mekon’s Sally Timms’s “Corporal Chalkie” from her album of 2004 titled In the World of Him.
Along with Lycett, Greenhalgh has served as the primary web-master for Mekon- related sites such as the Wonderful World of the Mekons and OOOH! With fellow Mekon Lu Edmonds and others, Greenhalgh has also worked on Ellipsis’s project for PORT: Navigating Digital Culture (1997).
