MacCulloch played for four seasons playing in the NBA before having to leave the league prematurely due an inherited neuromuscular disorder in his feet. known as Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease. In his initial 2 seasons as a member of the Philadelphia 76ers, MacCulloch played reserve centre and averaged 9.4 minutes of playing time, 2.6 rebound and less than 9 points in 56 and 63 games , respectively between 1999 and 2001. In the off-season of 2001 MacCulloch was a free agent for the New Jersey Nets and as their centre of the team, he was averaging 9.7 points as well as 6.1 rebound per game. MacCulloch was later traded to the 76ers during the 2002-2003 campaign during which he played less than twenty minutes 9.1 scores, as well as 4.7 rebound per game. Due to an inheritable neurological disorder called Charcot-Marie-Tooth that affects the peripheral nerves in the feet and hands, he was placed to the injured reserve list at the mid-season point, and did not play in the next season then announced his resignation in the month of September.
A student at Shaftesbury High School, which is located in Winnipeg, MacCulloch was in 1999 named Honorable Mention All-America as a senior at the University of Washington, when the average was 24.7 scores, 15.9 rebound, as well as an .662 score on the field. He was the top player in his team in the NCAA Division I in field goal percentage during his final three seasons in college, and was the second player in history to achieve this feat. In addition, he was an All-Pac-10 First Team selection during his final two seasons at Washington. He was selected by the 76ers in 2nd Round (47th in the overall) in the 1999 NBA Draft.
MacCulloch has played in several pinball tournaments. He competed in the European pinball championship in Stockholm in 2007, and has played in the PAPA World Pinball Championships since 2005, qualifying in the B Division multiple times. In October 2011, MacCulloch won the Pinball Expo in Chicago, beating world champions Keith Elwin and Lyman Sheats on his way to his first major pinball title and a $3,000 cash prize.
