Tim Stauffer is one of the most popular and richest Baseball Player who was born on June 2, 1982 in Portland, Maine, United States. Timothy James Stauffer (born June 2nd 1982) is a American ex-professional baseball player. He was a player in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the San Diego Padres, Minnesota Twins and New York Mets.
Stauffer was picked at the beginning of the round of selection by the San Diego Padres as the fourth overall selection of the draft of June 2003. Stauffer had been suffering from shoulder pain since the conclusion of the season at college, as well as his MRI in July found an injury to the shoulder joint. His agent and he met with the Padres with the information in negotiations and Stauffer was signed by the Padres for a bonus that was smaller than a fourth overall player would normally get. The Padres director of scouting Bill Gayton said about the announcement, “Their honesty and integrity is second to none. They didn’t have to do that.”
Stauffer spent most of 2006 and 2007 with Triple-A Portland. He was called up to the Padres for a single appearance on August 21, 2006, in order to temporarily fill a spot in a pitching rotation hampered by injuries. His third and fourth call-ups came on July 29, 2007 and August 26, 2007, where he again made spot starts before being sent back to Triple-A. He posted a 15-17 record and 4.98 ERA in 46 starts over his 2006 and 2007 Triple-A seasons.
After the 2007 season, Stauffer elected to have surgery to repair a tear in the labrum of his right shoulder. The surgery and rehab cost him the entire 2008 season, and Stauffer began 2009 with the Double-A San Antonio Missions after a month of extended spring training to build arm strength.
Stauffer was forced to rest the arm during 2003 and started 2004 with the class A Advanced Lake Elsinore Storm. Stauffer was soon promoted to Double-A, and was promoted to Triple-A Portland Beavers in June, recording an impressive 3.54 ERA in 14 starts for the team. The team was predicting him to be the 3rd starter close to making it to into the big leagues.
