Since August of 2010 Kliphuis is hosting the annual Grappelli-Django Camp , which is a gathering of international players of gypsy jazz in the Netherlands. From 2012 until 2017 he taught of jazz violin at the Fontys Conservatoire in Tilburg. He published his second volume Grappelli Licks (Lowland Publications). The year 2017 was the first time he conducted sessions in The Royal Conservatoire of The Hague.

Since 2012, Kliphuis has been working mostly in the Trio format with Nigel Clark and Roy Percy. In April 2012, they premiered a crossover project with the Netherlands Chamber Orchestra. In this concert, Kliphuis explored the common ground of classical string orchestra and string jazz trio, showcasing some of his own compositions, as well as material by Duke Ellington, Stéphane Grappelli, Richard Strauss, Aaron Copland, and others.

Kliphuis has held workshops on string improvisation at competitions, festivals and other events in America, South Africa, Japan, UK, and Europe. He is the most well-known instructor for the style of violin played by Stephane Grappelli who wrote the most popular publication Stephane Grappelli Gypsy Jazz Violin (Mel Bay 2008). Then he released The Hot Jazz Violin DVD set (HyperHip Media 2009).

Kliphuis gained notoriety as a student in Amsterdam in 1999, when he teamed up with Belgian Gypsy guitar player Fapy Lafertin. Kliphuis performed in Europe as part of Lafertin’s Quintet and appeared on three albums prior to turning into a solo artist in 2004.
