As as a Taiwanese born native of Taiwan, Chen moved to Hong Kong in the mid- 80s when she was married to filmmaker and now China Chairman of the Star Charles Heung. He convinced her to do so, Chen quit her career in trading and embraced her new life in the world of cinema by working with Heung in the entertainment company Win’s Entertainment. When the company was founded in 1984 Heung founded [Win’s entertainment Ltd.]and established China Star Entertainment Ltd in 1997. The company, along with it’s parent company, the Golden Harvest Company became one of the most profitable production companies within Hong Kong.
She has since assisted Heung to build China Star into a media empire that has involvement with Hong Kong and Mainland China. In the credits of China Star films, Chen is often listed as an director of production. Under her guidance, China Star films have been incredibly successful on the charts. This includes the 2000s movies Needing You, Love on a Diet as well as Lost in Time.
